Are you the kind of person who supports the little guy to win?

If you're like me, you just can't help yourself. You love to get behind the underdog. It's inspirational watching the little guy grow and get that hard earned win.  Lynn Taylor of Room Ninety Two is a finalist in a business competition. The Grand Prize is decided by a public vote.  She runs a well loved local beauty business in lovely Whitstable Kent. Her beauty treatments make people feel relaxed and happy. If you're like me, here comes the part that should put a fire in your belly to help her. The company that is currently topping the leader board has 17,772 Social Media connections. Lynn is just getting started with Social Media.  All of the finalists look like great UK businesses, but well, I personally want to see the little guy win! I want to see her sky rocket out from her position of 37 on the leader board to poll position.  Will you back the little guy? Vote for Room92 Please share via Social M

Inspirational story of how Meetup got started after 9/11

Fellow Meetuppers, I don't write to our whole community often, but this week is special because it's the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and many people don't know that Meetup is a 9/11 baby. Let me tell you the Meetup story. I was living a couple miles from the Twin Towers, and I was the kind of person who thought local community doesn't matter much if we've got the internet and tv. The only time I thought about my neighbors was when I hoped they wouldn't bother me. When the towers fell, I found myself talking to more neighbors in the days after 9/11 than ever before. People said hello to neighbors (next-door and across the city) who they'd normally ignore. People were looking after each other, helping each other, and meeting up with each other. You know, being neighborly. A lot of people were thinking that maybe 9/11 could bring people together in a lasting way. So the idea for Meetup was born: Could we use the internet to get off the interne

Support #kentbusiness Vote for #Whitstable business to win Smarta award

via A local Kent business needs your help. Support a Kent business by voting for Room 92 to win the overall Smarta prize that includes mentoring session from a Dragon & £10,000. About Room Ninety Two "In 2008, Lynn Taylor's business plan was rejected on three occasions. Not for a business bank loan, but a simple business bank account. With zero funds, debt and a poor credit history, the odds were stacked against her beauty treatment business ever getting off the ground. Where others may have given up, Taylor ploughed ahead, sourcing equipment from high street suppliers on expensive high interest credit and continuing to work part-time while setting-up from her Whitstable home. Three years on she's now banking with NatWest, her debts are paid off, she has two employees and revenues of £50,000. Offering high-end beauty treatments for clients often too busy to visit salons or spas within traditional opening hours, Taylor has built an impressive and loyal
